Flowering Control of Elsholtzia angustifolia (Loes.) Kitag., a Short-Day Plant

چکیده
This study was conducted to investigate the photoperiodic flowering response of Elsholtzia angustifolia. Plants were grown under 9/15 h (day/night) (short day, SD), 16/8 (long LD), and night interruption (NI, 4 around midnight) conditions. Supplemental lighting with a light intensity µmol·m-2·s-1 applied for LD NI treatments. continuous SD conditions developed first floral bud at 5 weeks after sowing during seedling stage showed 100% 9 weeks. Under conditions, there no flowering, plants continued vegetative growth only. Early small number flowers. It not desirable marketable potted plant production, indicating that is need certain period before flowering. Among transfer performed 3 or 6 transplanting (WAT) manipulate time. The percent when transferred SDs. On average, approximately 36 days from WAT, significant difference between photoperiod inflorescences significantly increased as date delayed. leaves branches also by delayed date. These results indicate E. angustifolia an obligate non-forcing such NI, effectively inhibit early

Genetic control of flowering time in rice, a short-day plant.
Endogenous genetic factors and environmental signals control the time of flowering in plants. One of the environmental signals is photoperiod. Genetic control mechanisms for the photoperiodic response of flowering of long-day plants (LDPs) have been extensively analyzed through the use of Arabidopsis as a model plant (for review, see Coupland, 1998; Levy and Dean, 1998; Samach and Coupland, 200...

Protection from the inhibition produced by 2 x 10-2 MI phenoxyacetic acid and phenylpropionic acid was afforded by molar ratios of 1: 1 and 2: 1 respectively', magnesium to the agents. متن کاملFactors Affecting the Water-sensitive Phase of Flowering in the Short Day Plant Lemna perpusilla.
The flowering of Lemna perpusilla strain 6746 is inhibited by daily transfers to water for short periods during a sensitive phase. Supplementing the water with Ca(NO(3))(2) partially reverses the inhibition of flowering while MgSO(4) increases the inhibition. The inhibition by MgSO(4) is overcome by low concentrations of Ca(NO(3))(2). Flower-promoting activity was detected in water and in MgSO(...
متن کاملExogenously applied melatonin (N-acetyl-5-methoxytryptamine) affects flowering of the short-day plant Chenopodium rubrum
Melatonin (N-acetyl-5-methoxytryptamine) is an animal hormone synthesized predominantly at night. It often serves as a signal of darkness that regulates circadian rhythmicity and photoperiodism. Melatonin has also been found in algae and higher plants, including the short-day flowering plant Chenopodium rubrum. To test its involvement in plant photoperiodism, melatonin solutions were applied to...
متن کاملNO FLOWERING IN SHORT DAY (NFL) is a bHLH transcription factor that promotes flowering specifically under short-day conditions in Arabidopsis.
Flowering in plants is a dynamic and synchronized process where various cues including age, day length, temperature and endogenous hormones fine-tune the timing of flowering for reproductive success. Arabidopsis thaliana is a facultative long day (LD) plant where LD photoperiod promotes flowering. Arabidopsis still flowers under short-day (SD) conditions, albeit much later than in LD conditions...
